SkyTrak Launch Monitor Review in 2022

SkyTrak has been available for years. Its precision, price, and software package have all been complimented. It is a hefty purchase for many golfers at $2,000, but it is a bargain compared to other launch monitors such as Foresight, Trackman, and Flightscope.

I’ll go through the SkyTrak launch monitor review in detail in this review. I’ll examine not just how well it records ball and swing data but also how easy it is to use and simulate.

What Is SkyTrak?

There was room for a personal launch monitor and simulator before presenting the SkyTrak. Everyone could not afford the stimulator available at that time.

In November 2014, SkyTrak, worth $1.995 introduced in the market and filled this vacuum. Since then, it has been improved, enhanced, and updated with the most up-to-date simulation plans.

SkyTrak is a personal launch monitor that gives instant and genuine 3D shot evaluation and ball-flight data.

Aside from monitoring ball and club data, the SkyTrak is among the few sub-$2000 launch monitors that work with the greatest modeling software, such as E6 and TGC 2019.

SkyTrak is marketed as an indoor launch monitor, and it should be used for that purpose whenever possible. If using it indoors is not a choice, it can be used outside but must be protected from the bright sun.

How To Set Up The SkyTrak?

Establishing the SkyTrak launch monitor is simple and takes less than two minutes. There is built-in wifi that can connect to your desktop or smartphone device.

When used outside, it can link directly to the internet via wifi, and when used indoors, it can connect to your home wifi network router. It can also link to a display by connecting your computer or mobile device with an HDMI.

When setting up the gadget before striking your shots, remember that it must be at the same position as the hitting surface and perfectly aligned to your original goal.

According to the manufacturer, the SkyTrak should be situated 12 feet away from the ball. When the SkyTrak is positioned on the ground, it is leveled using an accelerometer-based internal leveling system. You don’t need to calibrate anything before you start striking golf balls.

It is highly advised to set the logo on the ball toward the launch monitor lens for the best spin measurements.

When the setup is done, a red dot will appear on the ground or hitting mat, and you must place the ball exactly where the red dot appears for the best results. When the power, wifi, and ready lights are all green, you’re ready to go.

How To Take Measurements Using SkyTrak Launch Monitor?

Many golfers have remarked how quickly the data is processed and shown after striking the ball. This is because SkyTrak calculates the data based on the data collected. This isn’t a severe disadvantage because the time difference isn’t significant enough to affect your practice session.

Measurements are taken in two different methods to supply you with data.

First, the SkyTrak launch monitor evaluates numerous factors by monitoring the bumps and patterns on the golf ball in the minutes leading up to, during, and after the clubface and golf ball collide.

At this time, the SkyTrak launch monitor will monitor the following factors:

  • Side angle
  • Launch angle
  • Sidespin
  • Backspin
  • Ball speed

Second, once the ball has moved a few feet, the SkyTrak uses advanced algorithms to determine additional metrics precisely.

The following factors will be calculated:

  • Clubhead acceleration
  • The descending angle of the ball
  • Keep your distance.
  • Roll the ball
  • The total distance traveled
  • Deviation from the path of least resistance

Hit your ball from a striking grass mat placed in the shadow to boost performance. The ruts around your ball will most likely alter your readings while hitting shots off the grass.

You may evaluate the feedback because the data is presented as simple and easy to understand. Some of the shots can be removed to enhance the precision of the standards.

Is SkyTrak Accurate?

SkyTrak is a camera-based photometric device. An elevated camera captures photos of the ball for several feet after contact, allowing the device to produce data with the same precision as far more costly production systems. After that, it spits out your results after a few processes and calculations.

SkyTrak is introduced as an indoor launch monitor, and it is exceedingly consistent and precise. SkyTrak’s data is nearly always accurate and is rarely more than 1-2 percent off from more elite troops like the Foresight Sports GC2 or FlightScope X3. One of the main reasons SkyTrak is so famous is that you can obtain this level of accuracy for six figures less using it.

But if we use SkyTrak outside, its accuracy falls significantly, with many shots going unregistered.

SkyTrak Features Review

Battery

The device includes a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery that can run for more than 5 hours and charge using the provided micro USB charging connector. It is strongly advised that you charge the battery for at least six hours before using it for the first time. Using your battery to its maximum capacity can shorten its life.

Bag Mapping

Many golfers are unfamiliar with the carry distances of each club in their bag, and this feature can help you comprehend any gaps that may occur between clubs. The Bag Mapping tool will aid you in understanding your carry space, propensity, shot shape, and club gapping.

Stimulator

The SkyTrak launch monitor is not only a launch monitor but can also be used as a golf simulator, increasing the enjoyment factor of your gadget. This is accurate even on rainy days when you must stay indoors. To use all of the features, you must first enroll in the Game Improvement Plan and membership.

Download the SkyTrak simulator software on your iPad and link to your appliance wirelessly. Both the stats and the shot tracing technology will be displayed.

The graphics are stunning and extremely precise, giving the impression of walking on a genuine course.

With iOS, you can utilize your SkyTrak launch monitor to enjoy some of the world’s best courses with WGT Golf, while with a Windows PC or laptop, you can play several of the game’s top simulator companies courses.

Skill Assessment

The Skills Assessment is simple to set up and can be achieved in just a few minutes. You have to enter the number of clubs you want to smash and the range you want to go to. The examination will lead you through each club and save your information for subsequent review. Data is gathered, and after the session, you will be able to receive a complete report that includes your accuracy, dispersion, shot propensity, and handicap for each club, and a general handicap predicated on your session.

App

You’ll need to download a free SkyTrak app, which links to your apple tablet over Wi-Fi for the optimal viewing of your statistics for each shot. You must first enlist in SkyGolf online to receive a username and password.

The app is very well, and the pictures are presented appealingly. It’s simple to use, and you’ll see that it’s not stitched together. Nothing was tacked on as an afterthought to the software. Even in high light, the huge symbols and images make selecting options simple.

Some program elements, such as wind and temperature, can be adjusted for more precise feedback on your swing and ball path.
