What Is A Slice?

Slice is When you hit the golf ball with your golf club. It bends from left to right during its flight. This is a mishit of a golfer. Slice is the virus that infects your golf game. A good game of golf is slice free.

Why Am I Slicing?

The main cause of slicing is different for everybody. Because everyone plays in their style, let’s look at some main common reasons for the slice.

Causes of slicing

Weak grip

The most common cause is this one when a golfer does not take his grip seriously. When the player misplaces his thumbs, he does not pay attention to the clubface.  A weak grip causes the player to play with an open clubface. Hence, instead of going on a full swing, your ball fluctuates, and slicing happens.

Bad posture

Another major cause is your bad posture. Your bad posture is not good for your health as well as your game.  Try to keep your arms close to your body. This will give you stability. And you will see the difference of keeping your arms separate and close to your body. Both have a different impact on your game.

Keeping your hands closer to your body will give you more power. You will experience your ball swinging perfectly.

Playing With Stiff Back

Not playing with enough flexibility will ruin your game. Keep the slicing aside, and it will affect your shot. Most importantly, you will not get proper body rotation.  But you can prevent this from happening if you keep your back foot a little bit away from the ball. You will become stable, and your shot will get power in the backswing.

Open Stance

Keeping your stance too open will also cause you to have a slice in your golf game. Try to keep your feet aligned and parallel. This will let you have a perfect posture. Practice hitting many balls in this pose. And you will see the difference.

Don’t put all of your weight on your front foot. Your ball will start spinning. And if it starts doing so, you will experience a slice in your golf game.

Transitioning Between Backswing And Downswing

While having this problem, you will also experience slicing. Changing swings too fast will not let you have stability. Play with a calm mind and practice some pause after hitting the shot. After pausing a little bit, change your position slightly. You will get a strange feeling at first. But with practice and time, things will get better.

Conclusion

To summon up how to Stop slicing drives, keep simple things in mind about the slice and the drives. Slicing happens due to some common causes. And with enough practice, you can attain power on it. You can achieve a better golf game. Just try to keep your swing powerful. To do that you can practice a lot. The spinning of your ball also happens due to the open clubface. Try keeping a close clubface. This will not only help you with slicing but also with spinning.
